Wymondham High School

New school roof provides a strong bond

630m² of Chesterfelt Strongbond High Performance Polyester Membranes have been applied to the entire area roof of the North Hall at Wymondham High School in Norfolk.

Wymondham High School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive school, the extension forms part of a large building programme which includes a new classroom block.

The North Hall has been extended out into the car park area to double the size of the schools original provision and has created an extended dining area for use by the whole school. Work proceeded smoothly as school was closed for the summer holidays.

The existing felt was quite brittle and cracked having been in situ for over 30 years. Once the old felts had been removed minor concrete repairs had to be carried out before installing a 12mm recovery board and a felt vapour check layer to the existing primed concrete deck. A two layer high performance built up roofing system was then installed using Chesterfelt Strongbond underlay with Strongbond 180 green mineral capsheet as the finished layer.

Chesterfelt Strongbond is a polyester based pour and roll waterproofing system providing a mix of strength and durability.
